Valve vs. Blizzard: Pre-E3 Shitfest

Well it looks like we get to watch some sweaty, naked, wrestling as Blizzard goes after Valve for trying to trademark DOTA. Valve needs this trademark so that they may sell one of their newest games, DOTA 2, which is currently available in beta form.

For those who are uninformed on this topic, DOTA, or Defense Of The Ancients, is a tower defense game that originated as a mod from Blizzard’s Warcraft III game. Being that the mod was free, despite needing to own Warcraft III, and being in the public domain as a mod, it seems ludicrus that Blizzard is just reacting to this now, even more so that they did not try to trademark DOTA, which clearly had become popular in the gaming community. But now that Blizzard is actually giving a shit about the mod now turned game, we now have Valve facing legal action from Blizzard for the trademark of DOTA. Hopefully, this will not hamper the release of DOTA 2, but we can only watch as our beloved Gaben battles the mighty Blizzard in a legal battle we will all soon forget.
